DOG
BEHAVIOR SEMINARS
The always
popular, 'Ask The Trainer'
sessions
are informal
talks that provide
dog owners the opportunity
to ask specific questions about issues they're having with
their dogs.
"My
dog is dominant (submissive, afraid, etc). There's nothing
I can do about it. Is there?" This talk will give
you a better understanding of dog behavior and body
language so that you can communicate more clearly
with your dog.
Are you
concerned that your dog might be getting too rough with his
pals at the dog park? Learn how to
read your dog's behavior; when and how to interrupt 'over the
top' play; and what to do if a fight breaks out.
How long
can my dog be left alone at home? How can I stop him from
being destructive? When is it separation anxiety?
Does my dog need Prozac? Learn about some strategies to lessen
your dog's stress that many of my clients have found very
helpful.
What To Do With
A Puppy! Have you read too many books and
are now totally confused? I will outline your puppy's first
four months of development and what you should be doing now in
order to have a well-behaved adult dog later. Don't miss this
window of opportunity!
Does your
dog lunge aggressively at other dogs when
you go for a walk? Are you embarrassed by your dog's behavior?
Are you not taking your dog for as many walks because of this?
Explore how and why your dog does this and what you can do to
change it.
Dogs, Kids,
Babies, Oh MY!
Feeling overwhelmed? Don't be!
Whether you're preparing for your first family dog or already
have one and are expecting your first baby, this
seminar will help to calm your nerves. A smooth transition is
possible when you're well informed.
Do the July 4th
fireworks send
your dog into a tizzy?
Do
Thunderstorms
cause him to shake? drool? bark incessantly? pace
frantically? Does your dog run for cover?
Perhaps to hide in the bathroom? Join me for this talk
to learn
how
you can
change
your dog's perspective on the weather while reducing the
stress you experience because of this.
WORKSHOPS
Are
you afraid to let your dog off leash because he does
not
come when called? It is absolutely possible to get
reliable responses from your dog when you call him to you. An
untrained dog (want to volunteer your dog?) will be used to
demonstrate the process that is required to teach this all
important and lifesaving skill!
Fee $40
Does your
dog pull you down the street? Do people frequently ask you,
"Who's walking who?" Instead of just living with it and the
hazards of one or both of you getting injured, come to this
loose leash walking
workshop and get to work settling once and for all, who's
leading who.
Fee $40

An
Overview of
Dog Training- A look at the history of dog training and the trend towards
'positive only' methods.
Is it just politically correct? A great marketing slogan?
Is it possible to have a well-trained dog without using collars
that pinch, choke or shock your dog? Or is their merit to
the traditional dog training view that 'your dog needs to
know who's alpha'? Is there a middle ground?
This presentation
addressed how dogs learn and how to know if your
dog is learning what you think you're teaching. I also explained
how
and why I use the clicker to train dogs.
